Late Night Thoughts

*my head is throbbing and has been for the past couple weeks it feels like. I just want to feel good again!

*i'm going to try to take a break from Twitter and Facebook, because I need to spend my time doing other things!

*i'm so excited for summer! I'm looking forward to the warm weather that will start this weekend.

*i spent way too much time on Pinterest day looking up images or North/South Carolina, summer, and other style ideas!

*i absolutely love and adore all of my friends; anyone who has ever been there for me when I've needed someone, said a prayer for me or my family during a hard time, made an initiative to keep the friendship alive even though it's hard, reached out to me when i haven't put myself out there, sent me a card in the mail for my birthday or whatever occasion, listened to ramblings of my favorite TV shows or latest obsession, or someone who has given me a shoulder to cry on when its been a hard day... Thank you! You have no idea how much that means to me and how much I love you for it. You know who you are :)

*i finished reading Safe Haven again this week! I loved it more the second time!

*i wish Steve Carell was one of my uncle's! I think he'd fit in with our family just fine!

*i graduate very, very soon... And I'm just hoping I don't pull a Lizzie McGuire of sorts....

*i want a basket for my bike!

*i am so blessed. So many times I'm rushing and worrying that I can't just see what is happening right before my eyes! ~deep breath~ life is good and God is always good, even when we don't see that!

That's all folks,
Shelby

Random Facts

I'm sick in bed, again... So, I thought I'd post random facts about myself and just that come to mind....

*i hate fruit when it's ripe!
*the thought of having to take NyQuil kind of makes me want to gag
*i cry more over fictional characters in movies, TV, and books more than I do with stuff that happens in my own life
*boy meets world and Full House make everything better
*i absolutely hate talking on the phone, mainly because I feel so awkward, like I can't think of anything to say...I've had to make more phone calls lately and it's making me start to question my career choice! HA!
*if I was to date a celebrity, I'd date Nick Jonas
*Josh Duhamel, Ian Somerhalder and Patrick Dempsey are my top "older guy" crushes!
*i want to be best friends with Taylor Swift
*if I ever meet John Stamos, I think my life would complete. I'd also probably blurt out something stupid, like, "will you pretend to be my uncle Jesse?"
*i love antiques, and watch Jeopardy every night... Basically I'm like an 80 year old at heart
* I want to move to South or North Carolina --the more I read Nicholas Sparks books, the more I fall in love with i.
* i need to start vlogging more
* my guitar's name is daisy-It's a Takamine, Grand Ole Opry model
* i want to live in a small town. Well, I'd like to have a vacation spot that involves a small town...I still need some city life.
* Built of Barnwood is an awesome place with home goods and other items of TVD (also ran by Ian Somerhalder, his brother, nephew and sister-in-law)

 * i'm running out of interesting things to tell you....

That's all for now,
Shelby

Oscars 2013

The Oscars are Hollywood's biggest night; the Superbowl of movies, where all of the biggest stars get their "fancy" on, and rock the red carpet. It's something I always look forward to year after year, and I hope to be on the red carpet interviewing people someday. It's becoming a bigger reality now that I'm getting closer to being done with college, so I'm just accepting it, and letting God do whatever He wants with the dream.

Enough about that, let's talk fashion. After all, that is why most of us watch these things to begin with...

Best Dressed:

Jennifer, Sandra, and Reese have to be my top three! I just absolutely love them; not only for the work they've done, but just for always looking so fab on the red carpet. To me, they always get it right.

Cutest Couples

Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston!
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner; absolutely adorable-They have always been my favorite. I also have to say that Jennifer Garner is always one of my best dressed nominees, as well! (so, she's just a given from now on).

Moving on to the main award show, I was actually pleasantly surprised with Seth MacFarlane as the host. I'm not a big fan of his, and was afraid he might go a bit overboard on the jokes, but thought he was actually pretty tame and funny. I could have done without several of the dance numbers and super long monologue, but it was pretty entertaining. It might have felt like the longest award show ever, but these things just tend to go super long, no matter who is involved...Nothing against him.

Some highlights of the show for me, were:

  • Jennifer Aniston presenting!
  • Jennifer Lawrence falling!
I mean, seriously, who else would make falling look so cool?! And what a gentleman Hugh Jackman was to try to help her get up. SO COOL!

  • Anne Hathaway winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress

  • The cast of Les Mis singing!

  • Ben Affleck's speech for best picture; if that didn't encourage you to keep dreaming and going after what you want most, then I don't know what will. He is proof of it!
"You have to work harder than you think you possibly can. You can't hold grudges! I know it's hard, but you can't hold grudges. And it doesn't matter how you get knocked down in life, because that's gonna happen; all that matters is you just gotta get back up."
*Chills*
And how can you forget that proud look on Jennifer's face every time he wins and every time he thanks her and talks about how amazing she is?! *AWWWW*

Bonus:
Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev at Elton John's screening party!

After watching these awards, I always feel inspired by the celebrities that I admire most, and it comforts me to know that at one time or another, they doubted themselves or questioned whether any of their dreams would actually happen. They had to eat ramen noodles out of cups or went through a phase where they couldn't afford cable...And now look at them! It will happen someday, so they key is to never give up...It'll pay off eventually.

That's all for now,
Shelby

The Weekend Review

I always look forward to the weekends, as most people do. No, I don't work, and I don't have a lot of schoolwork to attend to these days, but I still just love the weekends. It gives my parents and I a chance to spend time together, and we usually do some sort of fun thing, as well. We were supposed to be helping my grandpa move this weekend, but that ended up not happening, so we were free to do whatever.

Saturday, we had lunch, then went to the movies to see Safe Haven again. My dad hadn't seen it, and I wanted to see it again, so he went with my mom and I. I was just as excited, if not more so! And this time, they had posters...I could not contain my excitement about that one (so, I grabbed 4...). The movie was just as incredible this time, although the ladies behind us kept commenting on everything, and even said out loud, what they thought the ending was going to be like...Way to ruin that one, but it was all good.
When we got out of the theater, my mom listened to her voicemail; it was my grandma. My grandpa had gone into the hospital with chest pains, and would be staying overnight. It always freaks me out to get calls like that, because I always expect the worst, but he's all good and at home now.

We stopped by Kohl's, because I wanted to look for some shoes that Lauren Conrad had designed. That was fun, and they had a lot of other things on sale, so it was fun just checking out all of the new spring lines. There were so many bright colors, and I absolutely LOVE that!

We came home for awhile just to hang out, and figure out what we were going to do that night. We brainstormed a few ideas, then just decided to go to Sam's Club. It was a wonderful time to go, because there was hardly anyone there, which meant no waiting in line.
After, we went to dinner, then ended up at Target to pick up a few things. I got new PJ pants and some Twizzlers; I was having a weird night, so that definitely helped me perk up a bit. My mom and I were starting to feel a bit under the weather again, so we took medicine. I turned in a lot earlier than usual, started re-reading Safe Haven, then finally fell asleep after awhile.

Sunday was the same as usual. I got up, did my makeup and hair, got dressed, then it was off to church we go. The service was incredible! It was about having faith and taking that leap to dream again, which is something I've been struggling with a lot lately, and I feel like because of yesterday's message, I feel ready to get back in the game and start believing that God is going to do some incredible things.
After church, we hung around for a few minutes and said hi to some people, then had lunch at Chuy's. I'm not that crazy about it, but my parents like it, and I didn't want to come up with somewhere else to eat, so that's where we went. I had a chicken sandwich, which wasn't too bad.
We stopped at Wal-Mart to pick up some stuff for colds, then headed home, so I could park myself in front of the TV for the rest of the afternoon to watch the Oscar coverage. I live for award show season; it's kind of a big deal in my house! :)

I always watch E! for red carpet coverage, because I love Giuliana and Ryan, and I have gotten so used to them and the way they work, that watching anyone else on another station is just annoying. I trust E! for most of my celebrity news anyway...
Last night, we ordered food from one of our favorite Mexican restaurants (I ordered a Cheeseburger and fries), and we watched the award show. I thought it was entertaining, but as a whole, let's be honest, the show itself is just a bit long and a bit boring...But, it's totally worth sitting through to see your fave celebs and the fashion!!!! (Full post to come on the show)
I also love when the award shows are on at the same time everywhere, because that way I can keep up with all of my friends that live in other states, and can see what they think.
My inspiration board of people who inspire me: Nick Jonas, Ian Somerhalder, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Sophia Bush, and Bethany Joy Lenz
Inside joke with my parents all weekend...HAHAHAHA.
In my sweats, watching The Oscars, so when my time of walking or interviewing on the red carpet comes, I'll be able to tell my cliche story of how I used to watch in my sweats. I'm a dork, I know! ;)

I had a really nice weekend! So, here's to hoping for an even better week, with a better outlook and more positive thinking, no matter what happens!

That's all,
Shelby

The Weekly Review

The week was pretty much the same as any other, although there were a couple of really great moments that were out of the ordinary that really livened things up a bit.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Getting my Ian Somerhalder autograph in the mail!!!!!!!!

  • A tweet from Barbara Alyn Woods (Deb, One Tree Hill)

  • Singing on the worship team for the youth on Wednesday night was a lot of fun! I wasn't sure if I was really excited or not, because I wasn't feeling totally secure with my part. But, after practicing several times with the rest of the group, I felt so much better about it. God ALWAYS pulls through. It was fun getting a chance to know everyone and officially meet them, even though we've seen each other around at the past few practices. The message was also great! When the service ended, I talked a bit with some of the worship team and headed home.

Some of my grandma's old jewelry! :*)

That night, I started getting a horrible headache, but didn't take medicine, because I thought I could sleep it off. Bad idea! I woke up the next morning feeling worse than before. I read a little, had lunch, then took more medicine and took a nap for a couple of hours. I felt so much better after that. I feel like my head has just been in a bit of a fog lately, so it was a nice day to sort of re-prioritize and actually get sleep, which I tend to neglect at times...I ended up missing practice for the worship team, but it was for the best in the long run.

It was a great night of TV, though! American Idol was filled with some good, but mostly bad, singers and then there was The Vampire Diaries. There wasn't a new "Office", which I was disappointed with, but everything else was great!
  • Shopping with my mom on Friday to find outfits for us to wear to the Shania Twain concert and Easter was fun, but I was also not in a charming mood, so that made things a little interesting and not so fun, to begin with, but it got a little bit better as time went on...

I want to see this tour...BUT, I don't like Jay Z...
Carrie sent my mom this autograph when she couldn't make it to the album listening party!!! We finally got a frame for it :)
Starting to read Shania's book again!
SO EXCITED!!!!!
Got a frame!!!!!

That's all for now,
Shelby
