American Idol CD Debut Month

The last year of American Idol was a country showdown in the finale, between Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina. Well, it has been a big month for both artists, with their debut CD's coming out. I've been a Lauren Alaina from the first time she walked into the audition room and sang with Steven Tyler. In fact, she's the main reason I kept watching the show, because I was getting a little tired of Idol. She's the one person I diligently kept voting for week after week.

I pre-ordered Lauren's CD, and was so excited when it finally arrived at my door on Monday afternoon.

Lauren's CD is amazing! Each song is so fitting for her style and the life that she lives, and I couldn't be more proud. She's the all American girl! And after watching her Introduction special on GAC, I became an even bigger fan. She's just a teenage girl, trying to find her place in this world, and she is who she is. She's an inspiration to so many girls, including myself and I can't wait to see how far she goes with her career. If you haven't checked out the CD yet, you should definitely pick up a copy! My favorite songs are The Middle, Dirt Road Prayer, and She's a Wildflower. Those were the ones I related to the most!

Now, I liked Scotty, but I was Lauren all the way, so I wasn't really sure if I was going to buy it when it came out. When I heard my uncle bought it, I decided I'd just get it from him. My mom and I listened to most of it on the way home from my grandparents' house one night, and I was really enjoying it. My favorite song so far is "Better Than That"! Check out Scotty's CD as well, if you haven't already.

Both of these amazing teens are going to go so far. The country music world has already been welcoming them with open arms, so I wouldn't be too worried about either one of them. They are going to be just fine ;). Both of them are super nice, Christian kids, and they are really going to change the world with their music.

That's all for now,
Shelby

If you've heard their CD's...what do you think and what is your favorite song?

Lazy Sick Day

Feeling lazy, and not wanting to finish homework, especially math. Plus, this is like the last free day of the week, so I'm just trying to enjoy it. And the homework is going to just end up piling up, if I procrastinate like I tend to do. Oy vey! I wish I had a fall break.

Keith Urban Concert Weekend

Over the weekend, my parents and I went to LA to see Keith Urban at the Staples Center! We got down there in mid afternoon, ate lunch, checked into the hotel, and off we went to scope out the arena, of course. It was pretty dead; usually there are other fans and a lot of craziness going on. When we got there, there were only a few people hanging around, and maybe a couple roadies every once in awhile, but nothing major. Closer to show time, we did see Jake Owen, and he waved, but didn't get a chance to come over.
The concert was incredible! Jake Owen came out first; he was a great performer. I'd only seen him perform an acoustic set before at CMA Fest, but he sure knows how to entertain and get the crowd going. Then, it was time for KEITH... And they weren't kidding when they said he performs for about 2 1/2 hours, and how he really does "get closer" with the fans. He pointed out all the posters in the crowd, brought three lucky fans to sing "Kiss A Girl" on stage, sang on a small stage in the middle of the arena, and went into the back stands to give away a guitar. If that's not a true performer, I don't know what it is. Keith truly enjoys what he does and the energy he has is infectious to everyone that attends one of his concerts. He sang all of my favorite hits, except for one, and a ton of others. He puts on one heck of a show, and how he hasn't won entertainer of the year is beyond me, because he is incredibly talented and deserving of it.
Keith is one of my favorite songwriters, and he is so genuine and real. He has this vulnerability in his music, that makes him so incredible. I became an even bigger fan after the concert, and he will always be a big inspiration to the kind of music/artist I'd like and hope to be someday! If you ever get the chance to see him live...GO! You will not regret it. Just be prepared to stand for awhile ;) LOL.
We were a little far back, so our pictures didn't come out that great, but here are a few of the best pictures:

I'm going to try to edit a video and post some songs later this week!

That's all for now,
Shelby
