My Life in Pictures-August 12

My fortune

Found this at Rite Aid. Blast from the past!

I had to...

I was disappointed..they were not even sour.

My friend Laurie and I in the movie
I went to lunch with my mom, ran some errands with her, and we saw Glee the 3D movie with one of my best friends, Laurie. I'll be posting a review of the concert later, but it was AMAZING! A little while later, I ended up going back to my friend, Mandy's classroom, to help her set up. It's looking great! I'm so excited for her.

Her classroom theme, of course I was all for it :D

BOOKS!

Panoramic of the class!

Journey to the center of the universe, excelled readers program!
The rest of the night I've been hanging out, and I'm just fine with that. I talked to my cousin on the phone, and he shared some stories with me. It was probably one of the best talks we've ever had. It sank in tonight, just how much my family and friends mean to me, and how much I want to enjoy life. There are a lot of people hurting in this world, and I've been so blessed with a lot of love in the 19 years that I've been on this earth. It's my turn to help people out, and show them the love and friendship that I've been shown. We may fight and annoy each other at times, but the bottom line is the ones that are there for the long haul will always be there for you, no matter what the circumstances are. They may not agree with you, but they'll help you through it. I thank God for them every day, they're my angels and my heroes. I am the person I am today, because of them. They make me a better person!

That's all for now,

"Save Me San Francisco..."

San Francisco is, and has always been, one of my favorite places to visit. There's so much to see and do; it has a creative energy, and it's a romantic city.

So many TV shows have been inspired by the city, including 90s hits, Full House and Party of Five. Full House is probably what sparked my love for it, before I'd ever even been. My mom kept telling me, "You're not gonna see DJ or Stephanie or any of them hanging out around town, they film that in LA..." I'd tell her I knew that, but in the back of my mind, I kept waiting to see them on Fisherman's Wharf. Let me tell ya, it never happened. I still had fun anyway! There have also been movies filmed in the city, such as, Just Like Heaven, The Wedding Planner, and Princess Diaries.

My favorite places to visit are probably The Golden Gate Bridge (of course), Coit Tower, Union Square, Giants Stadium (though I am a Dodger fan, they have one of the most beautiful ballparks) and Alamo Square Park. Some of my greatest memories come from San Francisco, because there's just something about the city that takes you away from your worries! I miss it, and can't wait until our next trip back!

That's all for now,
Shelby

Trends I'm Diggin

"Shooties"-I'm not sure that I could pull them off, but I love them! I think for Fall/Winter, they're great. The girls of PLL could easily pull these off.

I love the boyish preppy look, but with a girly twist

Again...A little more preppy :)

Love the fishtail braid. I'm not great with braiding, but I think it's the perfect look for summer or just a day at the beach.

Summer shows

Since it's summer, and most of the normal shows are off, it has given me a chance to get into some other seasonal/one time only shows, like Platinum Hit and The Glee Project. I'm also very much into Pretty Little Liars, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and Giuliana&Bill.

Platinum Hit:
Kara Dioguardi's show on finding the next hit songwriter. Each week there were songwriting "hook" challenges on assigned topics. After picking the top three hooks, they would split into different teams, and complete the songs. Through all kinds of drama, challenges, and lots of paper, they found a terrific songwriter. I hope they come back for a second season, because I found it very inspiring.

The Glee Project:
A show looking for the next member of Glee, or at least a good eight episodes! Each week, contestants are given a song, and they go through the process as if they were on Glee. There's recording, dancing, and filming. It's a tight schedule, and the pressure is on; you have to be on your game, one bad week could can cost you. My favorites were sent home, although, personally I think they were the most relatable and consistent in the competition, but I guess that's not what they're looking for. It will be interesting to see who ends up landing a guest starring role on Glee.
You can check out the website for more information on the show!

Pretty Little Liars:

You know, it's funny...for some reason I never thought this would be my kind of show. Back when they were on the first half of season 1, I'd see previews for it, and would just think it looks creepy/weird. A couple of friends kept trying to get me into it, and I'd say, "Nah, I'm not into. Not my thing!" One night, while I was at my friends to watch The Bachelor, we ended up watching that for a few minutes so we could fast forward on the other, and something about it drew me in. That night, I decided to look up past episodes On Demand, and I was instantly hooked.
Anyway, each episode gets more and more intense. The crazy thing is ...I tend to watch it pretty late at night, which is not a smart move. If you're all caught up, then let me just say, when Jason first came to town, I knew something was definitely wrong with him. He seems to have a hidden agenda! But, the chemistry that him and Aria seemed to have was undeniable, and I thought he seemed really sweet to her. After the last episode, I definitely changed my mind again, and I am on team Ezaria! They are perfect together :)

Giuliana&Bill:

When the show first came on, I knew Giuliana from E! News, of course, and Bill from the first season of The Apprentice, but I didn't necessarily know about them as people. Week after week, I fell in love with the show. I love reality shows to see the behind the scenes lives of important people, and this one doesn't disappoint. Giuliana is hilarious, and seems like she would be a lot of fun to hang out with! And I love the way they get along so well :) Great show! After just a few shows, you'll feel like you know them.

Secret Life of the American Teenager:

I go in phases with this show, depending on the storyline. It's basically a soap opera for teens; no matter how much you want to turn it off, you keep getting sucked in. I really like Francia Raisa, Shailene Woodley, and Daren Kagasoff! I want Amy and Ricky to be together, they're supposed to be a family, they have a kid! I don't want him to go running back to Adrienne because he gets in a fight with Amy, but more than likely, that's what will happen.

That's all for now...hope I didn't bore you all too much! ;)

Lucy Hale Tumblr Post

Yesterday Lucy Hale tweeted her latest Tumblr post, which I found to be very encouraging! I'm a big fan of Joel Osteen and this is a topic I go back and forth with a lot, as many people do, because it's a crazy world. It's easy to get discouraged when it comes to your dreams. They seem so far away, too hard, you feel like you're not good enough; there are plenty of reasons that can keep you from going after what you really want, what God has placed in your heart. "If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it," I believe that wholeheartedly. We may not think we're good enough, and we're not, but through Him, we can do ANYTHING! If He placed the dream in your heart, don't doubt it, go with it! It won't always be an easy road, but it will be so worth it in the end. God promises that! :) ...Trust Him.

Iconic Houses

Wonder Years House-Kevin Arnold

Winnie Cooper's House

The Brady Bunch House
One of my favorite things to do is to look up locations where TV shows, movies, music videos, etc. were filmed. I finally found the Wonder Years and Brady Bunch house in LA a couple weeks ago! Life complete. Haha just kidding! But, it was a very special moment. I love old shows much more than most of the shows on TV today, because they had morals! :)

The Past Couple Days...

Have been really great! Yesterday, I hung around at home most of the day, then last night, we went to the Buck Owen's Crystal Palace for a free show. But, it wasn't just a free show to me, because I LOVE this new group, Eden's Edge that was playing there. They put on a great show, and I ended up getting to meet them after! They could not have been sweeter! I'm so looking forward to watching their career blossom into something really amazing! :) They are currently on tour with Brad Paisley; If you have the chance to see them/meet them...take it! You won't be sorry. They've also become good Twitter friends too ;) I'll be posting some videos later on!

Me and the group
Today was pretty exciting as well. I woke up, hung around, then got a phone call from my friend, asking if I wanted to help her out with setting up her classroom, because she's officially a teacher now, with her own room. I had lunch, got ready, then she picked me up. It was a lot of fun, and her room is starting to look great! We got the borders up, some posters, and a few other things! I'm so excited for her :) As soon as I got home, I ran some errands with my mom, we ate dinner, we came home, and watched Soul Surfer.
My nails!

What an inspiring movie. It really changes the way you look at things; changes your perspective. Sometimes we all just need to step away from the problem we're having and realize that sometimes there are worse situations.
All of this helping out in a classroom really made me miss elementary school; the cheerful posters and bright colors around the room, the light load of homework, the fun school supplies, and the great teachers I had. Then, you get to college, and it's all work...that's not to say I haven't had amazing teachers and moments through the years of high school and even classes now, but it's just different when you're a kid. Everything is so exciting and you have your parents making the decisions for you. As you get older, it's on you, and that can be a little challenging at times, but I guess it's all part of growing up. So, even if only for a day it was good to have some flashbacks of being in an elementary classroom! :)

That's all for now,
Shelby
