I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas
Dear Santa,
I live in California (Hollywood)...but it's not like in the movies where Christmas is always snowy white. On my list, is just one wish, that it would snow tonight. (Hilary Duff's "When The Snow Comes Down In Tinseltown).
Just one year, I'd like to have that simple, traditional Christmas. Of course, I've only ever known the Christmases out here, but from what I've seen they're very different. I picture a log cabin, with snow covering the ground, fireplace lit as everyone is gathered around sharing stories of Christmases past or around the piano singing carols, the table is all set for dinner, and everyone is getting along swimmingly. Like I said, it's very different. You see the way it's supposed to be like in the movies all the time, but honestly, what is Christmas supposed to be like?
Jesus is the reason for the season, the rest is up to each family. I don't think there's any right or wrong way to spend the day, everyone makes of it what they will. As much as I'd like things to be a certain way, I realize that it's more of who I'm with. As long as I have the ones I love most around me, where's the bad? The other stuff is just that...stuff. Maybe I've never had a white Christmas or we haven't done the "traditional" things I've always pictured Christmas to be. Maybe it's been the "same old Christmas" every year, but you know what? That's alright with me. :)
That's all for now,
Shelby

I Wish I Was Here..In Utah
The other day I was watching the season 7 finale of One Tree Hill, when they all go to Park City, Utah for the premiere of Julian's movie. They stayed at the big lodge resort in town, and everything was all snowy white. It made me miss my family in Utah (also in South Carolina now) and how we spent Thanksgiving there with them one year. It was FREEZING, but so much fun. It really felt like the holiday season. It's such a beautiful place; if you ever get a chance to visit... Do it!

I Wish I Was Here...
I thought I'd start a post called, "I Wish I Was Here..." to post pictures of places I wish I was. Pretty self explanatory right? Well, I thought it would be fun for those days when I just want to escape reality or wish I was somewhere else. The first one on my mind is Disneyland. Not only is it the happiest place on earth, this weekend they're filming the Christmas parade. Apparently 1iota was giving out free tickets to the park to watch the filming of the parade for tomorrow and Sunday, and I totally missed out on it :/ Bummed! But, either way, I wish that's where I was spending my Saturday LOL.

Chick Flick Daydreams
I think every girl is captivated by chick flicks whether she wants to admit it or not. We all daydream at one point or another about someday meeting Prince Charming or that we'll have that run in with the man of our dreams much like a scene out of a movie. We'll make eye contact with them from across the street as soon as we see each other, or it'll be one of my friends that we just realized one day we're meant to be together. Okay, well I don't think I have any friends I've ever thought about that with, but you see where I'm going with this. But, sometimes I wonder if I think about it so much that real life will never be able to measure up, because love isn't perfect. It's fun to daydream anyway right?
Here are five scenes or moments from movies/TV shows I wish would happen to me in real life:
Here are five scenes or moments from movies/TV shows I wish would happen to me in real life:
- "I Love You, You Idiot" episode of Gilmore Girls; the last scene between Rory and Dean
- "Rory's Dance" episode of Gilmore Girls; scenes with Rory and Dean...minus the fiasco at Miss Patty's!
- The last scene from "13 Going on 30" is one of the sweetest things ever, in my opinion. It's one of those full circle moments where Jenna gets everything she wanted, and she did it the right way first! :) She married her best friend.
- "You're so stupid Rose!" scene from Titanic. Alright, so I hope that I'm never on a sinking ship and have to choose between safety and the love of my life, but if it ever comes to that...I'd like it to go a little something like this one. A Leo Dicaprio look-a-like wouldn't hurt either.
