Fashion/Interior Design

We got this magazine of Art.com in the mail the other day, and I found some cool paintings/pictures that I would love to hang in my house someday. I've always had a thing for mentally designing my house when I look at furniture, etc. and make notes to go back to that store when I have a place of my own ;) lol.

I've always loved fashion too! And after Mary-Kate and Ashley came out with their clothing line, I wanted to have my own one day. I still think it would be cool, but in the meantime I enjoy just drawing and messing around with patterns and getting inspiration from some of my style icons. It's a fun way to show your personality without having to say much! HA.

My Weekend!

Yesterday was a lot of fun, and very unexpected! We had lunch at a local bbq restaurant, went to a boutique that was having one heck of a sale, and weren't really sure what else to do after that. So, I suggested we drive to one of the lakes in our town, which is quite a drive, but a beautiful scenery along the way. I turned my phone off, we listened to the radio, and had a great time.

We grabbed some refreshments on the way home!

Sunset!

Alright, so this was from Friday...but I was SO excited! Love Shane West :)

My little man, Mittens. He was so precious!

Today, I was on the worship team at church, and that was awesome! And fun, as always. I'm reminded many times of how incredible my church family is! I've been going there my entire life, and for the longest time, it was just because my parents did and wanted me to go there ya know? Not that I didn't love going there, but I wasn't involved, and only knew people my parents knew. Now that I'm getting older, I feel like it's really MY church, and I love that, and my parents' friends feel more like my friends. I love being a part of something so wonderful that God has planned, and I've grown closer to and have met many amazing people. I'm truly blessed! The songs were a little harder this week, but after three services, I think it turned out really good! And bottom line is, it's not about the music ultimately. We don't want to lose focus of our main goal and why we're up there in the first place. We've got a great team, and I'm so proud of everyone!  :)

My new shirt
The beautiful sunset on the way to church. :) I was reminded of learning to enjoy the simple things in life.

Reflection

Picture from Tumblr

Picture I found on Tumblr

On this very day, 10 years ago, I was 9 years old. I woke up around 7:30, got ready, and headed to the living room as I did every morning before. I'd usually watch a rerun of Laverne and Shirley, and eat my bowl of oatmeal. So, I was surprised that september morning to find that the TV was already on. When I saw what the TV screen was displaying, I was in shock. I remember asking my mom, "Is this real?" which was a silly question of course, but I didn't know what was going on. To me and many others, it looked like the scene from an action movie. My mom explained that terrorists had attacked the world trade center in New York city. I don't know if I really remember knowing exactly what that meant, but I couldnt believe it.
I was in 4th grade at the time, and headed to school as usual. As we worked on things like spelling, math, and science, we watched the news coverage. We finally broke for recess, and I remember me and a few friends trying to play a game to make us laugh, to get our minds off of the craziness of the world. We spent not too much time longer at school, before they decided to send us home early. No one was sure of what could happen next, and I remember being terrified; thinking Osama Bin Laden would just invade at any moment.
I spent the rest of the day with my grandparents, watching the news, and playing with some of the toys they had at their house. I didn't realize just how much our lives, as Americans would change after that. And the impact it had on other countries. But, it will forever live in infamy.
Today, 10 years later, ironically enough, I woke up to come to the very same place. My school and church were one in the same, and it continues to be my church today. I'm on the worship team today, and I can't think of a better way to reflect on today; worshiping God in a free nation. We may not know what's to come, but one thing's for sure is that God is in control of it all. My heart, thoughts and prayers are going out to the families and victims of that horrible day. All of us were affected, but not in the way that the people of the city were that day.

Never forget 9-11-01

Rainy Day

I awoke to the sounds of thunder rumbling yesterday morning, and was delighted to see the streets were glistening with water. The thought that fall is quickly approaching makes me giddy with excitement. To most, a cloudy day is gloomy and depressing, to me it feels like the day is full of endless possibilities and creative energy. It has always put me in this mood to write, much like the times of dickens and Shakespeare. I can imagine them sitting close to the fire, writing intently at their desk, while the rain or snow is falling outside.
Much like the rain cleans out the unwanted junk in the air, now is the season to clean out the unwanted junk in our lives. It's a chance to start new, and forget about the past, and start looking to the future.
