My Holiday Gift Guide

You can watch it here!
I got bored one afternoon and decided to make a little video of things that I think would make great gifts, for those of you who might be stumped on finding that one perfect thing to get a family member or friend.

Hope this helps,

Beauty Products I Use

Alright, so I realize I'm no Oprah or Ellen when it comes to giving away some of my favorite things or telling what products I use. But, maybe there will come a day when people will be referring back to these very posts to find out what I was using when I was "just starting out" and it will be on my E! True Hollywood story or something like that. Okay, so it probably won't, but a girl can dream right?

Anyway, moving right along! Here are some of the products I like to use when it comes to necessities I use on a daily basis:

  • Eucerin intense therapy hand lotion// I have extremely sensitive skin, especially during the winter, so I have to use lotions without any perfumes or scents in them, and this works great. Helps make my skin smooth.
  • Softsoap shea butter and almond shower gel// It smells really great and it's cheap. I'm not very particular when it comes to shower gels, just as long as it smells good. But, during the winter, sometimes I have to switch to something for sensitive skin once again with ingredients like oatmeal, etc.
  • John Frieda Frizz Ease Heat Defeat// Because I use a straightener and blowdryer basically everyday, I had to get something that would protect all of the heat to some degree. You spray it on while your hair is still wet and before you put any heat on your hair. It seems to work great! Helps make my hair not so frizzy and fried, which always lovely.
  • Organix Coconut milk split end mender// I really love this stuff! Again, you run it through your hair while still wet, making its way down to the tips of your hair, and it's supposed to help in making it healthier. I use to use it a lot more, but when I was and I'd get my hair cut, my hairdresser would comment on how my ends still looked really good considering the last time I got a hair cut. I highly recommend this.
  • Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash// I have really bad skin (acne), so it's extremely hard finding a face wash product that actually works. I can't tell you how much money I've spent on trying to find that perfect product that cures everything, including make up that is supposed to clear your face up in a week's time (BOLOGNE). I've been using this and it hasn't irritated my skin, which is always nice, but I think I may need to take a trip to a dermatologist soon!
  • Cetaphil daily facial moisturizing lotion// I use the cheaper brand in this, but it does the exact same thing, so oh well. It's pretty basic for a moisturizer after washing my face, but it does what it needs to.
  • Organix Cherry blossom shampoo// I love the Organix line! I've used several different scents in their shampoo and haven't found one that I didn't like. The one I use the most is the coconut, which just smells really awesome! All of them give your hair a healthy glow and each works on whatever you might be looking for: dry hair, split ends, etc.
I wish I was fancier when it came to beauty products, but let's face it...Walking into a drugstore or cosmetic store like Ulta is pretty overwhelming when there are so many products to choose from depending on your "case." It's crazy, so I stick with the basics and that's alright.

Stay tuned for the make up post pretty soon,
Shelby

Wish List

1. The Office 2013 Calendar// It is complete with quotes and pictures of a character each month. How perfect is that? Especially whatever month Jim is :) He's my favorite!

2. World's Best Boss coffee mug// I want to feel like Michael Scott! And what a better way to do than with his coffee cup? Maybe by drinking out of this cup you can also acquire some of his wit and "That's what she said" jokes... LOL.

3. Mindy Kaling's Book "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)"// I feel like me and Mindy would get along really great. She's really witty and extremely hilarious on the show. But, even before I started watching, I was kind of intrigued at reading the book, because it just seemed like something I would say. I love her snarky comments and the way she talks, I feel like the book would be written in exactly the same tone, which would make it just hilarious.

4. The Office DVD Board Game// I would seriously be a champ at this game. If I see a show once, I can pretty much quote dialogue and can tell within the first 30 seconds or so what episode it is. Somehow I almost have a photographic memory when it comes to entertainment, but not so much with math and other subjects in school. Once I really get into a series, I can usually tell what season and episode it is on which disc of the DVD. I really like to challenge myself with things like this.

5. Dunder Mifflin Paper Company sweatshirt// What would make you feel more cozy than a Dunder Mifflin sweatshirt? Maybe a blanket, but other than that...This will do just the trick. Besides, it would make me feel like I'm really part of the gang.

Live Each Day To The Fullest

"Let me live each day to the fullest,
For who knows what tomorrow may bring,
Each day our time grows shorter,
And closer Eternity rings.
So never look back in sorrow,
To what might have been.
Live each day in contentment,
For it may very be the end."

I mentioned that I went to a funeral last Monday for my cousin's great grandmother, and this poem was written on the inside of the bulletin they handed out. I realized that it was actually her great grandmother that wrote it. I had no idea that she was a writer. That's when it hit me...There are people around us whether it's on a daily basis or even just random people that we come in contact with and know so little about. It's saddening to think we find out so much more about a person after their passing than we ever did when they were alive.

I don't want to keep being at funerals, only to find that I didn't know someone as well as I thought I did or that I just didn't get a chance to know them at all. I want to take in all of the conversations and memorize their quirks while they're alive, instead of waiting until it's too late.

I've found out a lot of things or even just details about my grandparents after they passed away, and wondered how I could have missed those things before. It reminds me that I shouldn't be so self absorbed, only worrying about my own problems or what I like, when there is so much to be learned about others around me.

Don't wait! Live life now and make it matter.

Zooey Deschanel

Tuesday

Tuesday was a pretty relaxed day! I spent most of the morning studying notes and writing things down for my theater class, so I would be able to take my test later on in the day.

My mom had to run some errands in the afternoon, and truth be told, I was trying to put off taking my test as long as possible, so I went with her. I dropped off some letters in the mail for my friends, then went to Best Buy to pick up a present. There was a bit of a mix up with that, but we eventually got it. We ran to Home Depot, which I was dreading, but it actually didn't take too long (Thank the Lord).
I was still trying to delay homework, and I had mentioned to my mom that I wanted to find a "The Office" calendar, so we went to Barnes and Noble. I was so disappointed in the fact that they did not have one. After looking at tons of books, though, I was feeling inspired to go home and do something creative.
On our way home, we stopped at ampm to get some coffee, because there's a certain flavor we'd get every year after we moved into our house, and after that it just became a tradition. I also had hot cheeto's with my coffee. Yes, I realize how disgusting that sounds, but I was really hungry, because I didn't have a big lunch.

The rest of the night consisted of finishing my theater test and getting an 80% on it (HOLLA!) and watching A Charlie Brown Christmas and Polar Express. I also downloaded the podcast (free on iTunes) of John Krasinski and Matt Damon talking about their new movie, Promised Land. You have no idea how excited I am to listen to that. It sounds like it could be a pretty decent movie.

My dad and I went outside for a few minutes to feel how cold it was, and it was just breathtaking outside. You could see the stars go on forever. It was like Space Mountain, only WAY cooler. It was freezing outside, but also very refreshing. It's hard to imagine how cold it would have been in Bethlehem the night that Jesus was born, especially considering they don't have the clothing or heaters that we do today. WOW! It was a nice little moment to have.

Bonus:
I found these pictures on Twitter! Cast members were posting them, and they were just TOO good not to share! :)

Jim and Pam on Valentine's Day episode coming up :*) Too cute, I can't handle it.
That's all for today,
Shelby
